The Yoga Sutra – Online Course

Traditional and modern priorities
Join me online to explore why yoga doesn’t always mean union, why Patanjali’s system has more than “eight limbs”, and why its objectives are often quite different to modern priorities…
The course is an in-depth guide to the Yoga Sutra. We'll read the text together, breaking it down into focused sections, with reference to commentaries that help to explain its traditional meanings. The format combines group discussion with video presentations that use slides and other visual aids.
As the website explains:
"The 'eight limbs' of yoga… get so much attention because one of them is asana, whose meaning has changed. Patañjali's method is one-pointed focus, refining discernment to see through confusion."
The course aims to do something similar, reflecting on distinctions between the text’s aims and our objectives. Its approach is accessible without dumbing down – or to quote a recent student review: "a clear overview of a vast topic combined with depth and wisdom."
