Join me for a virtual presentation on yoga philosophy, hosted on Zoom by Yoga Alliance.

It starts at noon on the U.S. east coast (which is 5:00 PM in the UK, or 9:00 AM in California) and lasts for 75 minutes, including time for Q&A. Here's a brief description:

"Unpack the importance of distinctions with Daniel Simpson, a tutor at the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies and author of The Truth of Yoga. In this workshop, he details how Patañjali’s yoga is not about union. Rather, its ultimate goal is detachment from matter. He also discusses how a dualistic system can also be helpful with worldly objectives, from making wise choices to building relationships."

The goals are more ambitious in the Yoga Sutra (3.49, trans. Bryant) : “Only for one who discerns the difference between the purusha and the intellect do omniscience and omnipotence accrue.” But even those powers have to be renounced for liberation.

Starting from a worldlier perspective, we'll explore other ways to interpret distinctions. I hope you can join us!
