Ashtanga and Pranayama

Friday evenings near London Bridge

Globe House Yoga

Fridays, 29 Nov - 31 Feb
6:30 - 8:00 pm

For the next two months, I’ll be covering Milka Hutna’s Friday night class at Globe House Yoga.

It’s general-level Ashtanga, exploring the primary series, concluding with some seated pranayama - an ideal way to start the weekend.

Each class costs £10 to drop in. Discounted passes are also available (£50 for six classes). You can email me here if you have any questions.

Today, the physical practice of yoga is popularly identified with bodily postures, but in pre-modern India it was breath-control that was the defining practice of physical yoga…”

— James Mallinson and Mark Singleton, Roots of Yoga (2017)

ABOUT THE TEACHER

Daniel Simpson has been studying yoga in various forms since his first trip to India in the 1990s. He runs courses on yoga philosophy at the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies, on teacher trainings and online. His practical approach combines the flow of Ashtanga with the Iyengar method's attention to detail, lightened by a playful sense of humour. His pranayama teaching is inspired by Clive Sheridan.
